Civilization VS Nature

Politics, economy, nature environment, nature resources, culture, religions, technology.

All these and many more are what's that revolving within our planet earth in these days.

With the power of connections through the world wide web, exchanges of information has surely went faster than we could have ever imagined, and have surged the world to work somewhat differently than what it once used to be.

All these, the earth civilization, has gone a long long way since the dawn of man.
However, it would seems that as civilization move forward, nature has taken its tool and further decay from what was once a planet full of greens to a world now overclouded by mega skyscrapers, and all the refuses that man create in their forwarding movement in civilization.

With this, does Sir Charles Darwin's definition on evolution-nature selection still works?
Since we wouldn't know if civilization is actually nature selection itself, but through out the past century, there had been numerous findings on new species of life form constantly being discovered, and some species like the Panda, Tigers, and other species that are constantly decreasing at a painstaking rate, being added into the list of endangered species.

Is this nature selection that causes the species to slowly diminished?
or is it because of reasons like human's act, but is that nature selection?or was it the other way round?

(just me wondering, since i've read a punchline which is something like "Mankind took a step forward, and nature is left behind.")

Last month of 2009

The last month of the year 2009...
How has the year been for you^_^?

This year seems to move on a bit faster than it does somehow.
Maybe b'cuz we're more busy than we used to be.
Working out our life more than we used to, hoping that it'd turn out into something we'd hoped for all those years.

The month where Christmas is, and all those people seem to be excited at the sight of Christmas trees all around town and shopping complexes.

So, did all the resolutions you made for the year being achieved?
Let's just be ready for the coming year.
After all, they say "All's well that ends well."

There's another 2 weeks till Christmas, till holiday^-^

世界が終りな時。

I'm sure that those who could read Chinese will understand what this post title means.

it reads "sekai ga owari na toki", which means "when the world ends".

Have you ever wonder if you could be somewhere else?
Somewhere you are not at this moment, like an alternate dimension of you which lives a different life?
Not all of us live with the dreams we had since our younger days. As some of us would probably find new dreams, new direction as we move along life.

But do ever think?or imagined, thinking back on some of the times that happened in the past, and perhaps choose another path?
Would it all be different than what it is now?

People lives with dreams, and hope, and if we're devoid of these, there's not much in living.
But there are people who had blindingly chases their dreams, yet they had lost track of the reasons they'd chase the dream in the first place.

Reality is so real, yet the boundaries varies not from dreams.
Something that's made of dreams and hopes, is call reality.

It reminds me of something that Albert Einstein said...

Reality is just an illusion ,albeit a persistent one.

Perhaps, if only I'd not blindingly chased something so vague, would I have also be in a different world now?

But little are the use of thinking aback.
It is those that had happened in the past that had us be where we are at this moment.
Rather than wondering the days of the past, is it not better than we live in the moment?
To seize the moment...Carpe Diem!

13 October

^On this day a year ago, I boarded a flight from JB Senai Airport and made for Kuching.
After roughly 6 months at SG, I had decided to come home and find something else to do.

It has already been...a year since then, but I barely feel the things changed.
Blindly assigned myself on a career, and had been working on it since then.
And so, the lifestyle starts getting its routine.

From barely knowing the roads of Kuching, I definitely am better at going around. Though I never bother about the street names, all those landmarks are more than enough for most Kuching people.

Piano practice been going on OK, nothing much learned except two-a-three pieces, but I remember how dreadful the days are when I was at SG, away from my piano.

I took a pic of my piano...

Bank account sure had seen better days.>_<
No, really, it is going to take awhile to fill it up.
So please don't be mad if I'm like Uncle Scrooge. I'll try not to. T_T

Since I took Business Admin at OUM, I have to study again, and I thought the ABCs are through with me. Classes, Assignments, Exams!!! and result!

Japanese language doesn't seem to be going anywhere, when the mood kicks in, I might be able to make up some crappy sentences, but that IS IT.
I've lost my own reference book, so I borrowed NanPing's to study it.

A new cinema had just been opened last month at The Spring, its MBO, haven't went there yet.

I joined Taekwondo training again, a new gym was opened awhile back, less than 5mins driving distance, convenience is king. Might go get my 2nd Dan. Hahaha.

Some of our friends are Hitched, that's cool, getting all 'grown' eh^_^.

Leone, the new Rottweiler in my crew is getting smarter, it is gonna get bigger, I can tell you that!

Leone, the badass Rottie

The SWATCH I got for myself after I quitted my SG job, it sure is wrecked, with scratches all over the face glass.

The leather wallet and ring I got at SG is still good, and so is my PSP
Oh yeah, love my PSP.

Mustn't leave home without 'em.

Within one year, we have Starbucks, Coffee Beans, Manhattan Fish Market, Sushi King added to our Kuching town. More and more International brands are making their intrusion into our little city.
Where's that Burger King, MOS Burger, Subway, etcetcetc.
There's that local Bing!Coffee Company too, which have another 2 branches opened in the same year.

The recession seems to be quite over, and the economy is getting better around the world.

H1N1 appeared and strikes panic to the world some while back, but the heat is so much less now.

Well, maybe all these appears to be 'little' things, that's why it is kinda hard to feel the changes.

At any rates, it's best not to be overly concern with everything bad. Even though you see the glass as half-empty, you can always trick yourself into believing that it is half-full, which is True.

Yes, everything can be better, but give them some time, I told myself, things should work out one way or another.
There's the old saying, 'The boat will be Straight when it reaches the Dock.'
When the time comes, it comes.
All the wise saying uttered by a fool, yes?

Cheers everyone!
My Thanksgiving to you all, who cares wehn the real Thanksgiving day is!

Sunday drinking

Haven't got much to post lately, mostly boring stuffs like the one i would do right now, and i don't wanna bore y'all constantly with boring stuff.

Just got back from going to Travillion's C.O.R.E. and had a few glass with some friends.

Never really can accept spending there, legal-highway-robbery like business.
Its like, a shark with its jaw wide open, and us the prey that goes in like a moth would dive into fires.
Yep, metaphors can get you almost...everywhere.

Well, its great doing this once in awhile, cuz' when it all boils down, we're just spending to have some fun.
(Some 'expensive' fun, hahaha! No offense Boys and gals.)

I'll try to get some photo up here if possible, but that's gonna wait awhile.

nah~this one's from some time ago.

Power in a different light.

'Murasama' and 'Masamune', this is the name of a pair of famous Japanese katana...

Both of this names appear well in games, anime, and several other things.

There is actually a story regarding the katana, which i once read somewhere.

But here's one taken from wikipedia...

A legend tells of a test where Muramasa challenged his master, Masamune, to see who could make a finer sword. They both worked tirelessly and eventually, when both swords were finished, they decided to test the results.

The contest was for each to suspend the blades in a small creek with the cutting edge facing the current.

Muramasa's sword, the Juuchi Yosamu (10,000 Cold Nights / 十千夜寒) cut everything that passed its way; fish, leaves floating down the river, the very air which blew on it.

Highly impressed with his pupil's work, Masamune lowered his sword, the Yawarakai-Te (Tender Hands / 柔らかい手), into the current and waited patiently. Not a leaf was cut, the fish swam right up to it, and the air hissed as it gently blew by the blade.

After a while, Muramasa began to scoff at his master for his apparent lack of skill in the making of his sword. Smiling to himself, Masamune pulled up his sword, dried it, and sheathed it. All the while, Muramasa was heckling him for his sword's inability to cut anything.

A monk, who had been watching the whole ordeal, walked over and bowed low to the two sword masters. He then began to explain what he had seen.

"The first of the swords was by all accounts a fine sword, however it is a blood thirsty, evil blade, as it does not discriminate as to who or what it will cut. It may just as well be cutting down butterflies as severing heads. The second was by far the finer of the two, as it does not needlessly cut that which is innocent and undeserving."

And that's the legend about this two sword, any idea what is it trying to say?

Nice playings.

Sid Meier's Civilization series of video games had always been a 'wanna-play' of mine.
And i finally got to try the game a few week ago, CivIV.
Upon entering the game, its unique 'African-style' intro theme quickly captivated me.
Also, the game itself really is amazing.

The intro theme "Baba Yetu" is composed by a guy named Christopher Tin.
Here's a video for it.

The language used is "Swahili", if i'd spelled it right, a native African tongue, maybe some dialect, i'm not sure.
Just cuz the lyrics is so doesn't mean the song sux ay?

here's a piano version of it, damn straight amazing as well.

The COFFEE PASSPORT.

Poured down a shot of them Johnny Walker while watching a movie...but still no sleeps for me...it frigging 2am+ in the morning.

Perhaps write something to kill some time.

Coffee Passport given to Starbucks Barista,a memento from a friend.

What's this?
Well, actually, its a memento from a friend when i was working back at SG a year ago. It is a booklet that actually helps Starbucks' barista to track down their impressions on the different types of coffee bean they'd tried during their work...with the helps of their seniors/managers in their work line.
Like a journey, a walk...in the coffee world.

The aroma, acidity, body, and flavor are considered and recorded each time they'd tried the coffee made of these beans.

Well, this one is yet to complete...and perhaps, just perhaps, one day, i'd get to write something in there, or even try to complete it:)

No word to call 'it'

Its, 2:06 in the morning of 24th May 2009...

I've been living for...around 22years and a month or so.

Why was i in this world?
So i've came, and lived all this long.
and probably have a while more to go on.

What are we living in?
Is there truly a destiny for us to be fulfilled?
With what fates had stored for us?
Awaiting...
For all the moment our soul shall meets destiny.
Ruled out with fate in its thread.

Walking on the path of laid afront us,
for more than 20years, a lot had been seen, and yet,
many lies waiting for us.

(ugh, can really put into words...plus there'll be class tomorrow, crap~)

Goin back in time.

a gathering where i'm wasted.

siblings are at SG too.

fast and convienent transpo, i await kuching version.

it says 'world largest fountain'.

its a fat pigeon alright.

After sawing Ellen's blog just a few moment ago, i came to me again that it's been more than a year since i went to SG looking for 'something', that was March 2008.

Upon reaching the 'big city', you would actually feel...close, i guess that's cuz i really look forward to staying in a place like that.

For the first 2months, we were literally doing nothing while waiting to be hired by some misfortuned company/employer.

Going for the Food&Beverage industry, things hasn't been as easy as it would be, due to my lack for experience for those jobs, though i had tons of interviews to last for some time.

In the end, i was hired by a Donut shop.(not without connections)
and soon i'd probably have one of the most interesting part of my life.
Learning things, keeping up with the kitchen team's speed, a slowpokes like me would prolly never be faster than i would have been.
And of course accidents happens.

I would have also got my 1st warning letter in my whole life back then, due to this MAJOR screwup.

In the confusion, I was offered to join the Service Crew.
And so a new chapter begins as i'm 'hyper-trained'.(i just use hyper so it sounds cooler.)
For that one week, i would have been taught by my trainer and manager to complete and handle most of task imaginable as a Service Crew.

And just when i've gotten used to the hostile territory and 'unworldly' customers, i duno what to call 'em, its crazy all in all, anyway, i was transferred.

to a MORE hostile territory.(it was shit pool and deepening)

and when those hostility had been resolved/compromised, i was to be transferred again(wtf?)

though at this last outpost, it would have been the most amazing times for me in SG.

Amazingly, the last posting is where i'd learn the most...

After those fun times, our paychecks just doesn't seem to be able to afford us a lifestyle at SG, that's when i'd quit the job, and fly home for some more fun:P

Away, yet still blogging:P

Finally, today's the day, we embark on our trip to Sabah,
there's six of us, Hui Liang, Hui Ying, Mei Hui, Kee Choi, Nan Ping, and me.

Nothing much actually, after the flight, we'd rent a limou, and headed to this "Traveller's Light backpacker lodge" and meet up with Nan Ping.

A cozy little place, right somewhere in the middle of the town.(maybe side of the town).
With a lovely missy at the counter.

There's nothing to be done for the rest of the day, so we'd rest awhile, and head out for dinner, at the Burger King, which is a few minutes walk away, for half a year, i finally get to enjoy BK's burger, sweet!

After that, we had a little walk around the 'little' town.
Walking is tiring, so after that we had some little shopping to get some necessities and head bac to our lodge.

And that's the 1st day of our trip, tomorrow, well be going for the Padas River Rafting event.
Till then(^_^)

Some anime songs.

Boring stuff out of boredom-_-"'

Lolz, guys~
check out what boredom made me do?
Create boredom.

Life's a slow process...

Going through the earliest time in our life
Our good and bad times, throughout the childhood period while wishing and yearning to grow up for the better things in life, and so did we.

In the blink of an eye, times leaped, as if life of the years before had been all but a dream.

Yet, the present itself had presented us with another one of itself.

The irony is definitely of the most peculiar.

Life's considered a slow process...
When all is considered passed, when we had reached the later stage in life...as when we olden ourselves.
Would it had been just another dreams we'd gone through?
With the purpose we used in our life, it against our world and the world, to ours.
What would have really mattered? All could have, and would have be left in unsaid tales.

There shall be no return to the beginning, how we had wronged, or correct in anyways there is in the process.
We, or they, would have been through a slow process, and yet all would have seem so fast in its travel.

Anyhow write

Thought of going to bed early for the night, but some how just end up changing plan somewhere throughout the night...

But thinking for something to write sure gonna be troublesome ay?
I was wondering if there's anything to write at all, and then came up with something...
The Blue Whales, the Black&White Pig, and a Sleeping Pig.

There's been an addition 'thing' to feed starting a few days back, see the two blue whale on the left?
they're my gift for the 22th birthday...
The Black&Write in the middle and the bigger Piggy Bank are also my gifts from years aback...

Keeping them feed all the time is kinda hard, so its sometimes when i got spare changes after going out that I'd feed them.
Anyway, well, Most of them are for the deco.
The feeding is just something extra they can do(^_^).
Keep this up and I'm gonna have a full shelf of Piggy Bank in no time.

Bday 22th

These are some of the goodies Koreana has to offer ye

Probably nobody like getting old, but growing up itself is another issue of fun.

On the 18th April(which is actually my Lunar calendar's bday), my friends had had a 'detailed' gathering for me on this Korean restaurant at Premier 101.
It sure was a night of fun for me^^.

Things went well i guess, it could be worst, but I think Mr.Organizer damn arranged shits meticulously.

And we have some photos taken.
Thanks again ppl~!
(don't you just hate they way the website upload our photos...damn it's so annoying)

Trip to Kubah Nat.Park

It was years back when i joined the school's Chinese Language Club on a trip to Matang for a hike.

Now, after so many years, I'd went there again with a few of my friends, just to see really how bad and weak my muscles had become.
The thing is, I already know I'm a bit weak from all those foods and lack of exercise.
I can barely swim well nowadays.

So we start going there dead early in the morning...which really kills cuz it difficult for me to wake up early of late.

Used to hike all the way without stopping, but this time I'm grasping for air in the middle of the hike, not to mention my leg muscles are yelling and screaming about the workloads.

And things feel horrible when we got down from there.

It's been, 2days, and the muscle pain is still there...
Looks like conquering Mount.Kinabalu would be a task much more difficult than anticipated.
Sheesh.

If y'all wanna check out more of the trip, here's the other member of the hike that had written about the trip.

kc's version of the trip.

Eloise's version here.

Final Fantasies.

Most people who played video game wouldn't miss the chance to play Squaresoft's(currently merged with Enix, and they become SquareEnix) Final Fantasy franchise, especially when they are fans of RPG.

I, for one, share the join of playing all these FF series, which is one of the most well known game produced by SquareEnix.
From the Super Nitendo's FFVI to PS2's FFXII, and had been more than amazed at the sheer improvement of the game's graphics.

Since I only begin playing FFVI, best that I’d just start from there...

This one is FFVI, it's still 2D, but of course, the game was released on the SNES in the year 1994.

This was the game that got me so into FFs, and knowing what RPG are mostly about.

A few years later, in the 1997, FFVII was released on the PlayStation and player got to experience FF in 3D for the first time ever, despite the fact that the characters are still in block, it had been an amazing leap from the previous FF, and is agreeably a biggest hit made by Square.

After the hits made by FFVII, in came FFVIII, which is also released on the Playstation in the year 2000.
After 3 years, the graphic had again showed us how further game graphic can be improved. This time, the characters are most well-drawn, and limbs look more muscular than the block-like character in FFVII.

On the same year of 2000, SquareEnix also release the 3rd and the last numbered Final fantasy on the Playstation, despite being released on the same year, they had again tweaked the graphics and improved them, this time around, the characters would have better facial expressions, and you can barely see any squares on a character, it is much more detailed than the previous installment.

As SquareEnix continue bring us FF franchise, the FFX, released in the year 2001, was released on the PlayStation2, with the new age platform, the graphics would have changed the FF franchise entirely.
On this installment of FF, we’re talking gameplay, graphics, and sounds (voice acting) that are way impressive than any previous installments of the game, all made possible when then the video games were being released in the DVDs.

ameagor and the piano

definitely not something that i caught up with since my early age.
and never would have thought i would actually get to know all these tadpoles-like musical notes.
and to imagine i've learned to read these things.

kinda regret that i didn't get to learn to play them when i was younger, thought if i could have done that, perhaps now i would not be having troubles and such harshness in trying to play them.

a few years back, i finally decided to give piano lesson a go.
and somehow i managed to attend lessons for 2 years until i got caught up with works and studies.
man, how i'd wish i really could have learned more of it...sux~
thinking of going back for lesson.
might not done anything on improving my manners, but might helped with anger management^_^

My dear puppies

My dear little litter of Rottweilers, i'm so glad so see how much you 3 have grown over the past month, imagine not long ago you're still so little and fragile...and now you're all running around bitting each other's tail. Seeing how you 3 begin from coming out of your mother's womb, to the day you open your eyes and see this world, and how you 3 learn to walk, and start eating solid food, it had been, a great experience all over again.

I know although it is sad that one of you didn't not make it, but i know i still have you 3 with me, for now.

But alas, happy days had seem all too short, in another week's time you will all be separated from your mummy and brothers, and be on your own, send off to your new owner. Because i won't be able to take care of all of you.

Soon you will have to get used to your new home, your new owner, and what's more, your new lifestyle, whatever that will be.
But i know that it would not be difficult for you, for i know just how wonderful and strong you guys are.

Anyway, i would love to tell you boys how cute you guys are, and i hope that your new owner would be treating you better than i am now.

For now, just let me take care of you for another week, be strong boys...
Wherever you may be, whenever i look at these pictures, i would know that i used to have a litter of wonderful puppies, and they're now proud watchers and guardians for their new owners.

Into the world-of-wilds...Lentation

About this post, i'm going to tell you something.

Lentation,
apparently this is a name of an interesting 'martial art'-which comes in the form of our adrenaline rush-it train our mind to utilize our hormone adrenaline more effectively in a fight or flight situation.

Again, I'm not all into this Lentation stuff, i just happen to come across it in the big world of internet...where weird things gathers:P
one of the best way, that is if you're interested is to search the net on this "Lentation", nothing much except the forums post by people about it.

Very abstract issue.

The existence of the 'scroll' for Lentation is also legend like...

Well, this post is just meant to pique your interest in this thing.

Lastly, a quote,

Lentation makes both your perceptive skills,
and your physical skills faster. You punch faster and harder, kick faster and harder,
can jump higher, run faster, etcetera etcetera.

and i ain't tellin yer where that is from.
Good Luck, Have fun.

Analysing personalities...again

So what do you all think about the saying which goes like...to know others, you have to know yourself?

well, with all these internet stuff, we get a whole loads of them personality analyzing softwares, test, polls, etcetc.

So, what i'm going to show here is this one site i found that's interesting.
i would go into the details with you, but why not just let me show it to you?

my results...and where you can take the test.
basically they contrast some of your personalities, and break down human into categories, whether you're visual person, audio person, etc.(not sure what you would call it).

Click to view my Personality Profile page

you'll need to register yourself for it...not so complicated so not to worry, consider it a small effort if you want to make yourself a...'test subject'

Optical illusion-trick yourself silly.

A few days ago we(kc,tw, and me) stumbled upon an interesting 'thing'.

It is about optical illusions, where we get to see the sublime message from very abstract stuffs...

now there's probably a lot of these you have already seen.
but the one we saw was totally astonishing and unbelievable.
I have not yet to discover the reason for some of these illusions, not to mention that i can't even get their message.

there's actually too much of them to cover so i'll just show you this pic...
the one we found most interesting...

ok, so what you'll have to do is to stare at the 4 dots in the picture which is lined up vertically, between the two heart shaped thing for around 30seconds.
after that, wink your eyes rapidly while facing a wall, and you'll see 'something'.

go look for other pictures yourself...too many to find>_<

have fun screwing with your brain.

How screwed up we are?

The Gundam series are animation cartoon made by Bandai, and it always have a theme where as the world is in chaos...wars raging on and tearing Earth apart.

The most recent series would be the Gundam 00.
And as always, its where people are fighting for the future, to stop war,etc etc.
Despite the violence in the anime...don't you think its quite similar to us?
(those seen the anime would know better of what i said)

I mean...so much hate, anger...what for, someone's greed?
Why can't they see how pointless it is?
After more than 3000 years(even more) of civilization, the human race is still spinning in circles with these issues.
isn't there anything better to do?
Suxxx....

Tarot cafe@Jln.Keretapi

Tarot cafe is located along jalan keretapi, right after shell.
if you're looking for a cafe with some interesting theme...
you should check this one out.

they have some interesting drinks, and the quality is quite well done.
just maybe a bit warm in there cuz of the lights...

the drink to the right is The Justice...or was it judgement...cant remember.
but they say there's alcohol in there, so i tried.
but then its not all that strong, and they won't tell what type of alcohol they use, disappointed, but what can do, trade secret.( but then you can guess most of the ingredient they use)

Grow up 101

So that's what all of us do everyday, growing up.
being born, grow up, independent ourselves from our parents, form our own family, and thus the cycle continues endlessly.

but who could imagine what's in stall for us in the 'growing up' part?
it shall come with both happiness and sadness...
friend and foe.
love and hate.
war and peace.
good, and bad.
problems and their solutions.
all there laid in for us by a dunno whom, without any map.

so we keep walking on this path of many paths,
picked our choices, meet different peoples in different paths,
and continue moving on.
every time we're lost, there would not be any turning back for us.
perhaps we're lost in the every path we chose.
and again find our ways on way or another.

for even when we're lost that we keep pushing forward,
and with doubt, such journey became arduous and slow,
nonetheless, march forward we do, at a different speed it may be.
But just maybe, one day we'll find what at the other end of every path we chose.
till then, we'll just make do with whichever we decide to take on.

see pic talk story...Mt.Singai

the 4 of us went to MT.Singai the other day, considering it a good way too see how well/fit some of us are to ascend Mt.Kinabalu during our trip to Sabah on May.

The 1st ascend is flights and flights of stair, until you reach the top where there's a church.
This part is already an hour plus.

The 2nd ascend is where we have to make our tracks through a 'forest?' and keep moving up.
This part is much more challenging and will require a bit of skills, and endurance.

Well, nothing much to see from atop the summit, but if look down, you can see what's around the mountain foot, which are forest, some roads, vast plains of paddy field, and a few houses here and there...Time we start ascending: 9.05am, the time we got to the summit, its already 1pm+(that's like 4 hours man!)
Considering the tiredness of it when we got home, and the fact that Mt.Kinabalu is a lot more times a height compare to this one, can sure make you worry how you can fare on the Mt.Kinabalu ascend.

Your living philosophy

I once asked some of my friends a question…
“Why you live?”
It is a plain and simple question, but also one without a proper answer.

Why do you live?
What is your purpose in this life?
What do you intend to do with this life given to you, since the day your parents give life to you?

Everyone lives their life one way or another, a life of their own in this world.
There are choices to be made, and decision that might make us loses something in its process.
But still, each and every one of us comes through.

Everyone lives their life, with what they come to believe in, in the days they lived.
With philosophies of life that they sees the world as.

So, what about you?
Why you live?
